This tour aims to visit the Barrocal area (between Mountain and Sea) through the land of the Clay civilization. We will visit the Santa Catarina artisanal pottery. Water, clay, and fire are the elements of nature involved in the manufacturing process of these ceramic pavements, also known as Terracotta, Tiling, or Tiles, making them a natural and environmentally friendly product. They are entirely handmade, dried in kilns, and fired in wood ovens, using the same methods that have been employed for centuries.
This adventure also includes a meal at a typical restaurant, serving dishes from Algarve gastronomy. This cuisine emerges from the accumulation of flavours developed over centuries. Influenced by various cultures and civilizations, it’s important to highlight that, despite its great diversity, Algarve Cuisine has a common matrix, a characteristic trait known as the Mediterranean Diet.
